Exam & Proctor

EO exams are taken under a qualified, verifiable proctor. Use the map below to find a pre-approved testing center near you. Once you click a dot you can notify us of your selection by clicking “I want to use this proctor.”

FAQ’s

Don’t see an approved proctor near you?

The map above shows proctors EO has already approved. If none is convenient, you can propose a new testing site — common options include public libraries, university and college testing NCTA testing centers, and corporate or military educational testing offices. Submit your candidate through the Proctor Form and we’ll review.

Proctors must read, speak and understand English. You are responsible for any fees the testing center charges. Your proctor must agree to:

 • Administer open- or closed-book, timed or take-home exams
 • Download and print PDF exams from the secure EO Portal
 • Store exam files securely
 • Supervise timed exams in person
 • Verify your identity with a valid photo ID
 • Complete the proctor certification after each exam
 • Return your completed exam to EO by email or fax within 24 hours
 • Retain the original exam until your course grade is posted
Taking exams

Before your first exam, three things have to be in place: your academic-integrity certification (first-time students only), your tuition payment or active payment plan, and an approved proctor.

Exam delivery

EO posts a PDF of each exam to your approved proctor through the EO Portal. Some instructors deliver exams over VandalMail or Canvas instead – we’ll notify you and your proctor when an exam is ready.

Graded exams

EO posts graded exams to the Graded Materials section of the portal as PDFs and notifies you when they’re up. Original graded materials are returned to you after end-of-semester grades post; keep your address current on the Student Update form.

How long does approval take?

Allow two business days. We’ll contact you if there’s an issue with your candidate; otherwise you’ll see them as your assigned proctor inside the EO Portal under Your Information. If your proctor isn’t approved we’ll email you to explain and ask you to propose someone else. EO won’t release your exams until a proctor is approved, so move quickly.
